Best Project Management Tools According to AI Engines — 2026 Ranking

We asked 6 AI engines to recommend the best project management tool. Asana leads at 6/6. Linear scores 0/6. See the full ranking.

Which project management tools do AI engines actually recommend?

We asked ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, and Mistral the same question: "What's the best project management tool for teams?" Here's what they said — and who they completely ignored.

The Full Ranking

We tested 10 project management tools. The average visibility score across all tools is 2.9/6.

  • Asana — 6/6 (recommended by all engines)
  • Monday.com — 6/6 (recommended by all engines)
  • ClickUp — 6/6 (recommended by all engines)
  • Basecamp — 5/6 (not mentioned by Perplexity)
  • Notion — 4/6 (not mentioned by Perplexity, Gemini)
  • Linear — 1/6 (not mentioned by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, DeepSeek, Claude)
  • Hive — 1/6 (not mentioned by ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, Claude, Mistral)
  • Shortcut — 0/6 (invisible to all engines)
  • Height — 0/6 (invisible to all engines)
  • Plane — 0/6 (invisible to all engines)

Key Findings

The top 3 — Asana, Monday.com, and ClickUp — are recommended by all 6 engines. Linear, one of the fastest-growing PM tools, is only mentioned by 1 engine (Mistral).

Shortcut, Height, and Plane are completely invisible. None of the 6 AI engines mention them when users ask for project management recommendations.

This creates a significant discovery gap. As more users ask AI assistants for tool recommendations instead of searching Google, tools that don't appear in these responses are losing a growing channel to their competitors.

Why Established Brands Dominate

AI engines rely on training data that heavily weights established web presence — documentation coverage, third-party reviews, comparison articles, and community mentions. Newer tools with smaller content footprints get overlooked, regardless of product quality.

This means a tool like Linear, which is widely loved by engineering teams, can score lower than tools that have been around longer and accumulated more web content.

What Low-Scoring Tools Can Do

The good news: AI visibility is fixable. The gap is primarily driven by content and structured data, not product quality. Key areas to address include structured comparison content, third-party mentions and reviews, schema markup and entity clarity, and documentation depth.

Each AI engine received the same natural language query. We checked if each tool name appeared in the response. Score = number of engines that mention the tool (0-6). All queries run at temperature 0.3 with max 1200 tokens. Data collected April 2026.

Methodology Disclosure

Rankings and citations in this post are based on EurekaNav's internal audit dataset (4 published deep teardowns: Fireflies.ai, Linear, Otter.ai, Notta.ai — all available at /case-studies) plus broader audit work across additional SaaS targets. Sample sizes are small. Where we cite specific patterns, they are qualitative observations from a limited sample, not measured industry-wide statistics.

Each audit queries 6 AI engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral) with high-intent buying prompts and reads every engine response. Methodology details: eurekanav.com/methodology.

AI engine outputs are non-deterministic. The same prompt can return different answers across sessions and time. Specific rankings or claims in this post reflect what we observed at the time of audit, not a permanent state. Re-audit dates and any material updates are reflected in this post's visible last-updated tag.
