Here's the honest version of what happened when I ran EurekaNav through our own 6-engine audit system: I got a Critical visibility score, 7+ gaps confirmed across 4+ AI engines, and a prioritized fix list that would take under an hour to address the top 3 issues.
This is the article I would have wanted to read before launching an AEO tool. No salesmanship. No cherry-picked benchmarks. Just the raw results of auditing the auditor.
What 'Critical' Actually Means in the Audit Framework
Before I explain what the audit found, I need to explain what Critical means — because it's not a failing grade. It's a starting point.
The audit scores across 6 engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral) and 10 GEO compliance rules. 'Critical' means at least one high-severity gap is actively preventing AI engines from recommending the product. It's the difference between 'your product is somewhat visible' and 'your product is being actively misrepresented or ignored in contexts where it should appear.'
Most new SaaS products start at Critical. That's not an insult — it's a reflection of the fact that AI engines are reading your site the same way a first-time visitor does, and first-time visitors rarely arrive with perfect positioning.
Critical is not the failing grade. It's the diagnosis. And you can't fix what you don't know is broken.
What the Audit Found on EurekaNav
Here's what 6 engines × 10 prompts revealed about eurekanav.com:
When I queried 'what is EurekaNav' across the engines, the results were inconsistent. Some engines described it accurately. Others described it as 'an AI tools directory' or 'a chatbot platform' — which it isn't. The problem: if AI engines can't agree on what a product is, they can't recommend it confidently in category searches.
The root cause was in our homepage headline and meta description. 'See how AI engines describe your SaaS' is evocative to someone who already knows what AEO is, but meaningless to someone encountering the category for the first time. We had optimized for existing users, not for discovery.
Gap 2: Comparison — The Empty /compare Page
We had a /compare route in the sitemap but no actual comparison content. Every AI engine checks for structured comparison signals when evaluating products in the same category. A missing /compare page is a comparison gap — and comparison gaps directly reduce win rates in 'best X vs Y' queries.
This was the most embarrassing finding: I had built a comparison audit tool and hadn't built comparison pages for my own product.
Gap 3: Evidence — 'Who is Don Jin and Why Should AI Trust Him?'
The audit confirmed what I already suspected from watching GSC: my personal brand signals were too weak to generate entity authority. I had a founder intro on /about, but no external references from Wikipedia, Crunchbase, LinkedIn posts, or industry publications that would give AI engines a reason to treat EurekaNav as a credible source rather than a random landing page.
AI engines triangulate credibility through external signals. Without Wikidata, Crunchbase, and media mentions, EurekaNav is just a well-designed website with no credentials.
Gap 4: Consistency — The Same Product, Three Different Descriptions
Cross-referencing our homepage, /about, /methodology, and the blog, I found three different framings of what EurekaNav does. Not wildly contradictory, but inconsistent enough that an AI engine reading all of them would struggle to extract a coherent product identity.
This is the Consistency / Freshness gap — and it's the one most products overlook because the contradictions feel minor to humans but are noisy to machines.
Why Notta's 0% Score Made This Easier to Write
When I was deciding whether to publish this article, I looked at our public teardowns and noticed Notta — a real AI meeting tool — scored 0% mention rate across 0 engines. Notta is a legitimate product with real users and a functional website. It simply has no visibility to AI engines.
You can read the full Notta teardown at /case-studies. The point isn't to pick on Notta — it's that 0% is possible for any product, including products that are genuinely good.
If Notta can score 0% with a functioning product site, then Critical is not a catastrophe. It's a baseline. And if we can go from Critical to Moderate or even Pass with under an hour of fixes, that tells you something important about the ROI of the $79 audit.
What I'm Fixing First (And Why the Order Matters)
The audit gave me a prioritized list. Here's what I'm doing and why, in order:
1. Homepage Headline (30 minutes)
Entity clarity is the highest-leverage fix because it's the first signal AI engines read. I'm rewriting the homepage H1 to include 'AI Visibility Audit' as a category descriptor, not just a clever phrase. This one change should move the needle across all 6 engines.
2. /compare Page (45 minutes)
I need at least one comparison page — ideally vs the竞品 in the AEO tool space. A comparison page is a structured citation target: AI engines can read it, extract facts, and use those facts in recommendation responses. The /compare page is the single highest-ROI content asset for AI visibility.
3. LinkedIn Posts with Don Jin as Author (1 hour)
Entity authority compounds over time. Every post where I am named as the author of EurekaNav, with links back to the site, feeds the entity graph that AI engines use to establish credibility. One post per week for 8 weeks is the minimum viable entity authority building.
Fixes 1 and 2 are copy and structure changes — no engineering required. Fix 3 is a behavior change I should have made from day one.
What 'Passing' Would Look Like
I don't have a target 'Pass' score yet — I haven't run the recheck. But here's what I know about what it would take:
- Entity Clarity: Consistent product description across all public pages, with category + ICP in the first sentence of the homepage H1
- Comparison: At least 2 comparison pages targeting the竞品 in 'best AEO tools' queries
- Evidence: External references from 3+ authoritative sources (LinkedIn, Crunchbase, or media)
- Consistency: Unified product description within 10 words across homepage, /about, /methodology, and /blog

Why I'm Telling You This Before You Buy
